Entertainment Weekly’s Cameron Mathieson spoke with Jennifer at the Baby2Baby Gala this weekend about her plans for Thanksgiving … her answer shouldn’t surprise you as we all know how much Jennifer enjoys being in the kitchen!

Jennifer Garner partied with pals at the annual Baby2Baby Gala presented by John Paul Mitchell Systems in Culver City, California on Saturday, where she was honored with the charity’s Giving Tree Award for her dedication to children in need around the world — before spending a quiet Sunday at church with her ex, Ben Affleck, and their three children.

Before she accepted the award on Saturday however, ET’s Cameron Mathieson caught up with Garner on the red carpet, where she dished on her Thanksgiving plans this year.

“I’m cooking!” the mother-of-three said. “I’m cooking — always, everything!”

Garner, who wore a deep navy blue gown embellished with fabric flowers to the charity fundraiser, is a passionate advocate for underprivileged children. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Save The Children — which, as she told ET, is how she got involved with Baby2Baby — so the award is a meaningful one.

“Everyone who tries to help kids, we’re all just different pieces of the puzzle,” the Miracles From Heaven star said. “But you can’t help kids without food in their bellies, you can’t help kids without clean bottoms, and you can’t help kids without some basic bare essentials, and that’s what Baby2Baby takes care of so beautifully.”

The award, given every year to a mother who uses her position in the public eye to advocate on behalf of low-income children, was presented by Garner’s friend and fellow actor, Matthew McConaughey.

“It means the world to me that he came all the way out here,” the 44-year-old actress said. “What a good pal.”

Garner was clearly thrilled to see her pal, as she sported a huge grin while chatting with McConaughey inside the shindig.

Nov 14, 2016 · Ali · Awards, Events · Comments Off on Kate Hudson, Kristen Bell Salute Jennifer Garner at Baby2Baby Gala

Variety did an overview of this weekend’s Baby2Baby Gala where Jennifer was recognized for her work helping children.

The fifth annual Baby2Baby gala was held at 3Labs in Culver City, California, where more than 20 restaurants provided celebrities and guests with fun and intricate food and drink options. Power couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard opened the gala with a humorous yet realistic monologue highlighting the importance of Baby2Baby’s mission and the dire need for diapers, wipes, and other basic necessities every child deserves.

“I think involving yourself in community organizations is really vital. I think everyone should be doing more than just one, so this for me is a great cause for Los Angeles,” actress Kate Hudson said of her continued involvement with Baby2Baby. Hudson, a past Giving Tree Award honoree, could not have been more complimentary about this year’s honoree Jennifer Garner.

“Jen does so much for this organization, it’s so great. It’s such a nice thing and she brings awareness to people getting involved,” Hudson said of Garner.

Poverty strikes very close to home for Garner whose mother, one of ten children, grew up in severe poverty in rural Ohio.

Founder Norah Weinstein expressed her gratitude by saying, “Jen Garner is such a no-brainer for this award. She does this work; it’s part of her life. She walks the walk everyday. She helped us secure more than five million diapers and five million wipes over the last two years.”

“Overall what this award means is all of these amazing people in Los Angeles are coming together to try to help kids and if we can help the next generation have a leg up we can change the face of California,” said Garner.

This year, Baby2Baby distributed more diapers than any organization in the greater Los Angeles area, and since its inception, Baby2Baby has distributed more than 27 million items to children and families in need across the country.

Oct 27, 2016 · Ali · Family, Videos · Comments Off on Jennifer Garner on Teaching Her Kids to Be ‘Citizens of the World’

Jennifer talks with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Save the Children Illumination Gala on Tuesday night about raising her children to have charitable spirits and about making her children her priority.

Jennifer Garner is working as hard as she can to make sure her children become “citizens of the world.”

ET’s Denny Directo caught up with the 44-year-old actress at the fourth annual Save the Children Illumination Gala in New York City on Tuesday, where she opened up about teaching her children the importance of charity.

“I’ve worked with Save [the Children] for the last eight years, and my whole heart is here,” she gushed. “So obviously having all these people show up, it’s the only time in my life where I see people with cameras and think, ‘Thank you. I’m so glad you came. Thanks for coming.'”

While the Miracles From Heaven star got all dressed up for the evening, it’s the cause that’s most important to her, and that charitable spirit is something she’s trying to instill in her three kids with ex Ben Affleck: 10-year-old Violet, 7-year-old Seraphina and 4-year-old Samuel.

“It’s so important that you model for your kids how to be a citizen of the world, and I think that’s the very best thing you can do,” she shared, adding that she and Affleck each have special causes that they try to teach their children about.

“That’s really important at home, to make sure that our kids know that we both have causes that we care so much about… that we dedicate time, resources, and our energy toward making our own little slice of the world a little bit better,” she added.

Though Garner and Affleck separated last year, they’ve continued worked together to raise their kids.

ET caught up with Affleck earlier this month, where he gushed about making his children a priority — even when it comes to his on-set trailer must-haves, which include the kids’ schoolwork and art projects.

“[It’s] mostly stuff from my kids,” he said. “It’s the only personal stuff I have — the drawings and art. It’s a good place to hang up the latest artwork to come out of school.”

“We do our best,” he added of how he and Garner have learned how to co-parent. “We try our best.”

This year the event will be honoring Jennifer Garner, who will be receiving the Baby2Baby Giving Tree Award for her support and ongoing dedication to children in need around the world. Over the past two years, Garner has helped Baby2Baby distribute 5 million diapers to the low-income children the organization serves.

Supporting Garner at the event will be Julie Bowen, Selma Blair and Rachel Zoe.

Other attendees include J.J. Abrams, Michelle Monaghan, Jordana Brewster, Busy Philipps, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jaime King, Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart and Soleil Moon Frye.

Oct 22, 2016 · Ali · 13 Going on 30 · Comments Off on 13 Going on 30 Is Heading to Broadway

Jenna + Matty forever.

The movie 13 Going on 30 came out in 2004. That means that if you were 13 when you saw the movie in theaters, you’re now 25 years old. And with Deadline now reporting that a team has begun adapting the rom-com into a musical, that means those 13-year-olds who saw the movie in theaters could possibly celebrate their 30th birthdays by seeing it on Broadway. (But considering how I watch that movie every time it’s on TBS and I’m not 25, it’s kinda great news for everyone. It’s just one of those rom-coms, you know?)

The movie “has all the elements of a great musical: comedy, romance, an empowering message — and a touch of magic,” producer Andy Flickman said of the decision to turn the movie into a musical. If you’re unfamiliar, the story follows Jenna (Jennifer Garner), who used “wishing dust” to become a grown-up when she was 13. She suddenly finds herself with an amazing career and a very grown-up world around her, but wants nothing more than to reconnect with her childhood best friend, Matt (Mark Ruffalo).

The musical format actually makes a ton of sense for 13 Going on 30. There’s obviously going to be a great song about how Jenna wishes she were a grown-up, then a dazzling set change to introduce her transformation. Plus, the fairly cheesy but still catchy songs about feeling awkward in a grown-up body pretty much write themselves.

Most of the music will be original, but there are two key songs that might get licensed for the show. For one, there’s a great dance routine involved, as long as they can get the rights to “Thriller.”

And, of course, the “Love Is a Battlefield” sleepover dance party is going to be delightful.
